As a busy homeschooling mom I rarely get time to myself let alone “quiet” time. However I have the desire to know God and the only way to know Him is by what has been revealed in His word thus I must know His word. What better way to learn about God (grow in Him) than to ‘go to church’ on Sunday I thought. So Sundays would roll around and I would go to church for my weekly feeding. I would either leave feeling less than satisfied or full for a moment only to have the hunger pains return a short time later. I, of course, attributed it to something lacking in the church or the messages when really what was lacking was my own personal study. We shouldn’t be going to church on Sunday to feed because we have been starving all week. Rather a message we hear on Sundays should just be a dessert, an extra cherry on top, because we have been filling up and feasting on Gods word throughout the entire week.
So back to the busy, homeschooling, working, stay-at-home, never a moment alone problem. First let me say that we make time for what is important. NO EXCUSES. Sorry but I’m just going to give it to you straight. If its important you will make time for it. BUT there are seasons of life where it is much harder to make time and so we must get creative. I remember the day when I first learned I could listen to sermons though an app on my phone! It was like a whole new world had just been opened up to me! Now I can put in headphones-or just one- (quiet-er time) while doing laundry and dishes or pushing a child in the swing, or even play it while I get a shower and get ready for the day. Find time in the in between moments to feast on Gods word. Try to find time to spend alone in His word (just you and God) reading and studying scripture, but these next 10 completely free apps I list are a great way to supplement your feeding so you aren’t walking through life as a ‘hangry’ Christian.
